Queensway and the Pavement

The next stage of town centre regeneration

Crawley Borough Council and West Sussex County Council are investing £2.2m to continue the high-quality, award-winning improvements seen in Queens Square along Queensway, The Pavement and Kingsgate.

With new high quality paving and street furniture, this second phase of town centre regeneration aims to establish Queensway as an important, informal town centre space, and improve connectivity with Memorial Gardens.

The disabled parking bays will be reconfigured to current standards making them suitable for wheelchair users; planters along Queensway will be removed and infrastructure installed to enable the space to be used as a potential location for a new town centre market; while improvements to lighting and changes to the hedge along Memorial Gardens will make the area a safer and more attractive public space.

A planning application was approved in January 2018.

Construction began on 14 January 2019 and is expected to be complete by October 2019. Click here for the latest project update.
